Eleven days into starting my own business and I discover Blogging. Given that my life will be taken up largely with visiting insolvency practitioners and trying to convince them that I can help them do better business by keeping their regulators happy, this seemed like a great way to get key issues out to those who are too 'cautious' to splash out on my fees until they know what they are getting.
Since I sent out my first mailshot in June, I have received enough enquiries to meet the fairly prudent targets that I set myself, so I can afford to use the gentle sales pitch of this Blog rather than burning up the phone lines. I've had enquiries from all sizes of practice, from sole practitioners working on only a few appointments to major firms dealing with the challenges of expanding consumer debt. I've developed checklists to cover cold reviews of most types of insolvency appointment and I'm developing new packages all of the time to deal with the more general issues that the regulators are starting to consider as practice assurance and quality requirements. With seven regulators and the over-arching Insolvency Service to allow for, life is a constantly changing picture!
The main aim of the Blog will be to report on matters that arise on my visits. They may be of interest to those in the profession, but because I will need to keep them anonymised, they are unlikely to be particularly gripping to the casual visitor. If you are in that latter category, please accept my apologies. If you are involved in the UK insolvency profession and wish to read further, I will try to make the matters that I find interesting seem equally entertaining to you.
