A brief note of thanks to those who took part in our ‘spot the castle’ competition. Most popular response was Tintagel, which was probably also geographically farthest out.
Our congratulations and a couple of bottles of cheap plonk go to Peter Engel of Solomon Hare in Bristol who not only spotted that it was Dunure Castle, near Ayr, but also informed us that it was ‘the ancient seat of the Kennedys of Carrick, later the Earls of Cassilis’.
Thanks also to Bill’s wife, Penny, for waiving the intellectual property rights she has over her holiday snap that we used for the posters and the competition!
