It was with great sadness that we heard of the sudden death of Nick Sabin. Gareth had known Nick for several years as when he was with ACCA they both attended JIC meetings. Nick was always level headed and a calming voice of reason. He was a man of unimpeachable honesty and integrity who was responsible for consulting members about the IPA’s approach to regulation and then making the proposed changes into a reality.
Nick was always approachable when we consulted him on technical and regulatory matters and his insistence that regulation should constantly strive for improvement made him a powerful force for innovation. His commitment to better, rather than just more regulation is a cause that the IPA will undoubtedly continue to pursue in his memory.
Our thoughts are with his family, friends and colleagues at this time. Their loss will be all the more acute because of the sudden nature of his passing and we hope that this small tribute will bring a little comfort to those who miss him most. He will be greatly missed.
