Just a quick post to say that we understand that a revised SIP 1 has been drafted and is currently out for “limited” consultation. We do not know who is being consulted, but unfortunately we are not amongst the chosen few and so have not seen a copy of the draft SIP. We understand though that it includes a requirement for IPs to report misconduct by other IPs to their licensing body.
If
that is correct then it would be a significant change in approach since at
present the obligation is only on IPs licenced by accountancy bodies to report
on misconduct by other members of the same accountancy body. Given the sea change in approach we would
have thought it appropriate to put the SIP out for full consideration to the
profession as a whole, together with other stakeholders, rather than presenting
it to IPs as a fait accompli.
